Catch of the week:
Bait angler Raymond Whaley recorded a superb 16 fish across two eight fish (two rod) permits during an exceptional sporting session Wednesday. Raymond took full advantage of some freshly stocked shoals on his way to the absolute standout catch of the week.

Memorable moment of the week:

We were delighted to welcome the Northumberland Church of England, Josephine Butler Primary School to Fontburn Thursday:

the children really enjoyed their day, in spite of some challenging windy conditions! It was brilliant to see the kids having a go at bait fishing, some for the first time, but not without success.

Of the twenty or so in the party 20 fish were eventually weighed in, and we saw smiles aplenty as a result!
  • Best areas and flies - The north shore bay and the Dam Wall shone for fly anglers this week, with Dawson’s Olive and Cat’s Whisker patterns the talk of the banks. Away from the lures; it was also a good week for the White Muddler pattern.
  • Best areas and baits/lures: North and south shore bays, and the Dam Wall were best. Anglers favouring small Mepps or Toby spinners reported some superb sport, as did those opting for ledger rigs with chartreuse Gulp Fry as the hook bait.
