Catch of the week:
Lots of great trout came to the net this week with lots of fish ranging from 6lb to 9lb caught from both boat and bank. However, the catch of the week title goes to Peter Yeoman. Peter landed seven trout on his trip, amongst these was a 5lb 8oz trout, followed by a 6lb 8oz and a whopping 9lb rainbow trout. He was fishing fly in various spots around the water.

Best areas and flies:
Fly anglers have done fantastically. Richard Smart landed 19 fish over the weekend using a ‘washing line’ technique with small coral buoyant flies and a red and black buzzer. Amongst these 19 great fish were a cracking brace weighing in at 6lb 8oz and 7lb 4oz. Most fish are still deep with most catches on a Di7 using small buoyant flies and buzzers. However, fly anglers are reporting good sport on a floating line with buzzers and nymphs. The cages, School Bay and the main Dam Wall have been the hot spots for fly.

Best areas and baits / lures:
Spinners have worked well with small silver spoons, copper Mepps and various green and yellow spinners attracting fish. Worms have picked up their share of the trout for bait anglers, along with green, salmon egg, orange and Garlic Powerbait. The banks fished well over the weekend, especially between the large Tower and the Goldfish Bowl. This area saw a healthy number of larger rainbows caught with fish between 6lb and 8lb 7oz being tempted in by our anglers. The cages and main Dam Wall fished well for those fishing from a boat.

Please note: Banks Close at 19.00 with boats back on the Jetty for 19.00
