Catch of the week:
Ray Fothergill had his first visit of the year and was rewarded with the heaviest catch of the week which included a fabulous looking 4lb rainbow trout. Ray and his boat partner landed 20 fish in total using a variety of flies including small lures and buzzers fished on a floating line. The best areas were Whickhope, Plashetts and the Belling with fish very close to the shore in search of warmer water. The pair also landed a good few wild brown trout that took the more natural type of fly pattern.

Memorable Moment of the week:
With the weather improving all the time the fish have certainly been moving along the shores with anglers having great success casting only a few metres from the bank and being rewarded with great quality fish. Worm has certainly been a go to method with the fish feeding in the margins.
  • Best areas and Flies Hawkhope, Belling, Whickhope and Plashetts. Intermediate lines teamed with gold headed flies like black Fritz, Dawson’s Olive and Cat’s Whisker.
  • Best areas and baits / lures:Gordon’s Walls, Hawkhope and Stockie Bay. Ledgered Powerbait in orange, green or white fishing on a ledger rig but close in. Also a float fished worm has accounted for a number of good catches as the fish feed close to the shore.
Special Message:Boats are to be back on the jetty by 5pm. More fish will be stocked this week.
