Catch of the week:
George Lacey from Normanby sat patiently at the east end Thursday after missing his first bite, his patience was rewarded at lunchtime as the fish appeared in abundance and after a frantic hour George went home a very happy man with eight rainbows which he caught using ledgered garlic Powerbait with worm.
Memorable Moment of the week:
Mr. F O’Neill decided to have a couple of hours in the afternoon Saturday sitting on the west end of the Dam Wall and it wasn’t long before he was rewarded with the biggest of the season so far weighing in at 4lb 8oz. Also Mr. S Armstrong caught eight rainbows, amongst which was a lovely 3lb 5oz fish Friday.
Best areas and flies:
The south shore was the best area for fly with Viva, Zulu and Black Cormorant all successful patterns.
Best areas and baits / lures:
The first three days of the week were wintery, rough conditions and the east end fished best with the wind prevailing. The next two days both ends of the Dam Wall had good results. Over the bank holiday the west end of the Dam sprung to life with anglers catching full limits consistently. White Mice-tail and Powerbait with worm cocktails have all worked well this week. Maggot has also been very effective.
Special message for the new week: A cooler forecast for the week ahead with another stocking of fresh, fast and fit rainbows.
